April 22, 2023 - Fly to Cape May with Mugsy |
||||||
The plan this Monday morning was for Mugsy and I to meet at Massey Aerodrome (MD1), then hop over to Cape May for a late breakfat. There was a presidential TFR centered around Wilmington but Massey has a little cutout. So here I am approaching Massey from the south. I just did a straight in approach to runway 2. You can see the grass runway at center. Massey was absolutely deserted. Mugsy landed soon after me. After jawboning a bit, we mounted up, took off to the south from runway 20, and then once clear of the TFR cut east towards Cape May. | ||||||
Cruising over Dover Air Force Base. The big C-5s and C-17s are clearly visible.

Cape May ahoy! | ||||||
On downwind at Cape May airport. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Flight Deck Diner. I especially like it during a weekend because its not so crowded. Weekends are jammed and you have to wait a half hour or so.

Mugsy and I didn't feel like doing any funfly so we came straight back home. I took this shot of the Restroom Building. Most people call it the FBO Building but there hasn't been a genuine FBO at least since I've been coming to Essex Skypark. Since the building is essentially only used for its restrooms, I'm going to start calling it the Restroom Building. It is being partially renovated at great expense and is almost done, I believe. |
